TFS Orcas March CTP

Microsoft released the Visual Studio "Orcas" March CTP to the web. The beauty of this March CTP is that it includes VSTS/TFS for the first time.

I'm using VSTS/TFS for Visual Studio 2005 for my software projects and it works so awesome! I love the checkin/checkout functionality over HTTP(S) web services! And the branching, merging and shelving functionality is also amazin! IMHO, this is the best version control software on the market.

I've downloaded the Virtual PC images to my server. All I have to do is convert them to VMWare Server images and I can bring the environment online to test with. The top three new features I like most are:

  1. Destroy (remove versioned file contents);
  2. Annotate (show line-by-line who changed a file);
  3. Get Latest on Checkout (force to have the latest version on checkout)

From Anthony Borton's blog: "To find out about the features in the CTP, Brian Harry has a good blog post entitled Visual Studio"Orcas" March CTP is available which covers many of the enhancements."
