Tips/Tweaks for Adobe Reader

Content Preparation Progress

The Adobe Reader 8.0 always shows the annoying 'Content Preparation Progress' dialog box. This is useful if you use a screen reader or screen magnifier. Because i'm not using that, I disabled this.

PDF Preview Handler for Outlook 2007

Microsoft Outlook 2007 comes with a great feature to display attachments right within the email client. But unfortunatly, Adobe didn't create a plugin for PDF (yet).

  1. Ryan Gregg developed a preview handler. This one uses the original Adobe Reader. I am using this one. Download here.
  2. Tim Heuer developed a preview handler for Foxit (free document viewer, like Adobe Reader, but faster). The disavantage of this one is that it requires Windows Vista. Download here.

I hope Adobe ships an official plugin someday...
