Bluetooth Audio Solution for in the car: The Plan

Peugeot 308 XTI'm driving my new Peugeot 308 XT car now for two weeks and I'm very happy about it! The car has one auxiliary audio input in the form of a RCA connector in the dashboard. Yesterday I went to the CeBit in Hannover and I used this RCA connector to play my iPod Touch music over the speaker system.

To connect my iPod to the Peugeot 308 I used a cable with 3.5mm connector on side A (iPod) and a white+red connector on side B (car's aux in). It would be nice to do this without any cable (or with hidden cables).

RCA to Bluetooth

31Q0CZ67AGL__AA280_After surfing a few minutes on the Internet I found the Motorola DC800 - Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter on Amazon. This is a transmitter and receiver (bi-directional) that turns any regular home stereo into a Bluetooth-enabled wireless streaming device. The Sony HWSBTA2W is an alternative.

The DC800 has four RCA connectors. Two for input, two for output. It ships with two RCA-to-RCA cables, one RCA-to-3.5mm cable and one RCA-to-2.5mm cable. The reason why I like this DC800 more then the Sony is that power supply. T his D C800 uses miniUSB. Very useful because I already have car adapters for miniUSB, but even more useful because there are battery packs on the market for this kind of connection.

miniUSB Power Pack

The idea is that I put this DC800 in my car dashboard without any cables visible on the outside. There is not 5V available there so the APC UPB10 power pack is a nice add-on. It provides 10Wh power.

Bluetooth A2DP devices

TomTom910The only A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile = Stereo audio over Bluetooth) device I currently have is my TomTom 910 personal navigation system. The TomTom has a 20GB hard disk drive and jukebox for playing MP3's. It will be very nice to hear the TomTom instructions and music over the speaker system of the car. Especially because TomTom mutes the music while saying instructions.

411YxxLq4mL__AA280_But I'm also looking for a A2DP adapter for my iPod Touch. Yesterday at the CeBit I spoke to a sales guy of Jabra and they offer this kind of adapter, but he said that it doesn't take the power from the iPod, but from a battery. I'm more charmed of the Sony Bluetooth Wireless Transmitter for iPod (Black). This compact adapter takes power from the iPod :-)

And now...

I didn't buy these devices because I'm in the orientation phase. Just looking what's possible! Who knows... maybe I buy some of these in the future. Off course I will share my experiences in that case.
