In the beginning of June, my colleague Ruben D'Arco and I take part of the RAD Race 2008. This is an internal company event focused on delivering a working business application with controlled and verifiable conditions. It's open to any kind of technology,  software development tool or toolset. The idea is to deliver the best application that corresponds with the given assignment and within the time.

Off course, Ruben and I will use Microsoft technology, but good to know is that most other teams will use Java. There is also an Oracle team. And for the first time, a team from our partner company in India comes over with two software developers. We have to beat Peter Baars and Marc Kuijer who won the last two years, the JavaPolis and International RAD Race. So we have an interesting challenge!!

The program starts on a Thursday evening. We bring in all the hardware and test our configuration. Then go to sleep because on Friday morning we get the assignment and have to work hard till dinner time :-). Saturday morning we continue till noon, followed by presentations to the jury. The race ends with a presentation of the winners.
